Her creations do more than decorate spaces—they bring joy and light into the lives of those who acquire them. We spoke with Nadin about the philosophy behind her work, her sources of inspiration, and how she envisions the future of her art.
Journalist: Nadin, your philosophy of creativity permeates every one of your paintings. How would you describe the core philosophy of your art? Are there specific principles or beliefs you follow in the process of creating your works?
Nadin Antoniuk: When the soul is filled with beauty, the whole world changes… For me, this is not just a saying but the foundation of my creativity. I believe that art should carry light and positivity. In every painting, I strive to convey the uniqueness with which God creates everything around us. An artist can never imagine something as beautiful as nature does. My goal is to create works that bring positive emotions, fill homes with warmth and light, and make people smile.
Journalist: What inspires you to create your paintings? Are there any specific sources of inspiration?
Nadin Antoniuk: First and foremost, I’m inspired by:
- Client feedback. When I receive messages about how happy people are to have one of my paintings in their home, I can’t help but smile. If I’m not painting at that moment, I immediately want to drop everything and start a new work.
- Outdoor sports! This is how my day begins; I recharge with energy and then rush to the studio.
- Nature, of course, inspires me. I love walking long trails like the Way of St. James, Rota Vicentina, and mountain hikes.
- I enjoy observing the vast landscapes of our planet, how shadows play in the sunlight, how colors of the sky change at dawn, and how many shades of green can be found around us. I particularly love watching deserted beaches, the reflection of mountains in lakes, and blooming fields—these images often form the basis of new collections.
Journalist: Your painting style and technique are unique. How did you come to use strands of paint and layering? Is there any special symbolic meaning in this?
Nadin Antoniuk: Long ago, my father told me that I should find my style. At that time, I didn’t understand how that was supposed to happen—it’s not something you can just come up with overnight. I painted a lot, experimented, and gradually began to realize what exactly I enjoyed in the process of creating a painting. When I saw how beautifully splashes of paint lay next to each other, I decided to focus on that. This is how my style was born, where paints intertwine like threads, creating their own canvas, their own story. Each thread is a part of a larger canvas that tells its unique story.
Journalist: What message do you try to convey through your work? What do you want viewers to feel or understand when they look at your paintings?
Nadin Antoniuk: I want people to smile and feel warmth in their hearts. Art should bring joy and fill a home with harmony. I create my paintings with the thought that everyone who looks at them mentally touches the joy of beauty and recognizes in that moment how much good is around us. And also—to focus on the positive.
Journalist: How do personal emotions and life experiences play a role in the creation of your paintings? Are there examples of works that reflect important moments in your life?
Nadin Antoniuk: No matter what happens in my life, I always try to think positively and find bright moments in any situation. My goal is to remind people that every sunrise happens just for us, that every ray of sunlight has traveled billions of kilometers just for us. I create paintings about such moments to remind us that even in a puddle, you can see the stars. To know that the meaning of life is to be happy, and everything around us is already created for this.
Journalist: Do you have plans or ideas for new projects? What themes or ideas do you want to explore in the future?
Nadin Antoniuk: Yes, of course. For new projects, I’m always looking for inspiration in new places. I love to pause and observe how the wind plays with a dry leaf, what whimsical shapes some plant leaves have. Also, the bright blue shadows on a hot day or the blue asphalt after the rain (when a cloud flies away). This quiet happiness is what I want to paint so that everyone can feel the joy and peace of such moments.
Journalist: How do you perceive the success and recognition of your work? How does it affect your creativity?
Nadin Antoniuk: When my clients like my work, I feel that I’m achieving my goal—bringing joy and positivity. It confirms that I’m on the right path and motivates me to keep creating.
Journalist: Do you have favorite artists or works that have influenced your creativity? How are they reflected in your works?
Nadin Antoniuk: Of course! Jackson Pollock and Claude Monet are two artists who have had a significant influence on my work. The expression of Pollock and Monet’s subtle exploration of color and light are the background that is present in every one of my paintings. Their works inspire me to experiment with color and texture, helping me find new ways to convey beauty.
